I did an infographic for an agile government initiative “Experimental Finland“, a project run by a team in the Finnish Prime Minister’s Office. This particular piece was used to explain the project (a funding platform for experiments), as well as a briefing tool for teams participating in a hackathon that aimed to solve some of the practical issues in delivering the project.
The work process for a visual went something like this: client first explained what they need, I then read background materials to understand the project better. After that I have a conversation with the client to clarify the goals of the piece. Then create the first draft (drawings, story and copy) and run it by client. They give feedback and I make changes based on the feedback. Finally I cut the infographic into individual illustrations so the client can use individual cartoons in videos, blog posts and other channels as flexibly as possible.
The feedback from client was very positive:
“Wherever we went our target groups reacted to the visualisation with delight! The story was clear, insightful, fun and concise. We used it as a communication tool to explain the Government project Experimental Finland as well as a briefing tool with teams participating in a hackathon that aimed to solve some of the practical issues in delivering the project”.
